About Interkal

Our History

Located in Kalamazoo, Michigan Interkal is an industry-leading manufacturer of telescopic bleachers and fixed seating products. Our history begins in 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa where the Horn Brothers designed their first retractable bleacher. In 1952, the Brunswick Company purchased the Horn Brothers bleacher line and shortly thereafter moved manufacturing to Michigan.

Interkal then became part of the Kotobuki Group in 1987. With more than 100 years of experience, the Kotobuki Group is the global leader for seating solutions with manufacturing in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Our Innovation

Interkal prides itself on new technology and processes to improve both manufacturing quality and minimize lead times. This includes the streamlining of production with laser cutting and robotic welding of standard components while also being nimble enough to design and produce special parts for unique applications.

Working with our network of dealers across the United States and abroad, our products have been installed in K-12, college/university, and professional and private venues around the world. From experience, we know that every installation requires the utmost attention to detail to ensure everyone’s needs are met. We are committed to providing the highest quality products on time.

Our Goal

Our goal is to be ahead of the curve and consistently push our industry forward. This requires a strong focus on product development. We work closely with dealers, architects, owners, and facility managers to identify the current and future needs of our market. From there our dedicated product development team will address these needs by developing an initial concept and bringing it all the way to final design. These designs are proven through prototyping, testing, and iteration to ensure the final result is a comfortable, strong, reliable, and stylish product. The recent additions of the AURA Slat Stadium Chair, the AURA Solid Stadium Chair, the VISION Platform Chair, the POLARIS Multi-Purpose Seat, and the ODYSSEY Auditorium Chair are examples of Interkal’s eagerness to invest in the future of our industry.
